The Speaker took the chair at three o'clock.

PETITIONS

Several petitions were presented.

NORTH-WEST PAPERS

Hon. Sir John A. Macdonald presented a reply to the address for documents referring to the North-West, and advised the publication of all of them, with the exception of one despatch from Lieutenant Governor McDougall, and such papers as would affect private interests.

STANDING ORDERS COMMITTEE

Mr. MacFarlane presented the first report of the Committee on Standing Orders, and asked that the quorum should be reduced to nineCarried.

PRINTING COMMITTEE—PUBLIC ACCOUNTS

Mr. Mackenzie moved that the Committee on Printing be instructed to inquire into the cause of the delay in printing the public accounts. He did this in order to facilitate business.
Hon. Mr. Holton seconded the motion. Carried.

NOVA SCOTIA FINANCIAL ARRANGEMENTS

Hon. Sir John A. Macdonald laid upon the table correspondence with reference to the financial arrangements with Nova Scotia.

REVENUE RETURNS

The following were laid on the table: Statements of spirits, malt liquor, malt, tobacco, cigars, etc., snuff, petroleum and manufactures in bond, the materials used, the manufactures therefrom, the revenue derived therefrom; also the revenue from bill stamps, in the Dominion of Canada for the fiscal year ending 30th June, 1869.

UNFORESEEN EXPENSES

Hon. Sir Francis Hincks laid upon the table the accounts for unforeseen expenses, to which [...]
