UPDATE: Parsnip rebuild

Posted by gregster on 22 Feb 2007 in Servers, Activity log, Documentation

Parsnip has been set up to mirror the teachingmaterials directory on Squash to the big drive (B:) on Parsnip. Network drives (S: for Squash and W: for Wallaby) have been created on Parsnip and robocopy scripts handle the mirroring.

First, a task runs that backs up Squash to Parsnip at 11pm each night:

robocopy "S:\teachingmaterials" "B:\teachingmaterials" /E /PURGE /ZB /R:10 /W:30

Then, about 9 hours later (just to be safe) a task runs that backs up Parsnip to Wallaby:

robocopy "B:\teachingmaterials" "W:\teachingmaterials" /E /PURGE /ZB /R:10 /W:30

For reference, there is a decent entry in Wikipedia on Robocopy here. Robocopy itself is part of the Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools. No link because MS does such an awful job of retaining link integrity that it would be dead by the time anyone wants to use it. Probably better to use this link.
