The PH chapter is up for proofing, and I went through about a third of it today.
We have more info about build targets that have to be run prior to the main build to get the correct version information into the app, so I've updated and tested my build script for an eXist WAR.
There isn't a single project which embodies all the features I need to be working on at the moment (at least, not one which is agile enough for fast responses while debugging), so I've spent some time setting up a little test db called potluck, and I'll use that for my development going forward. I've also started work on factoring out the date and integer checking routines from the validation code in JS, so that I can elaborate that code to handle greater-than and less-than items. It's going to be slightly complicated in that we'll have to use different validation code for search fields than we do for data-entry fields, but that shouldn't be too messy.
In editing Apollo Epitome Book 1, I have come across a few apparent (?) places that are not currently in places.xml. Need to be researched to determine if they should be added or not: 1.1.2 Megarian territory (should this just link to the Megara coordinates??); 1.1.13 Icarus "fell into the sea called after him Icarian" -- there is an Icarion Sea so need to determine if these are the same or not; 1.2.8 Cape Geraestus -----The location for Icarion Sea (xml:id="icarionSea") ought to be correct. Cape Geraestus was found and added to places.xml file. Also I found there is a character named Geraestus (a cyclops, but not the primordial type brother to the hecatonchires). I added this character to the characters.xml file and listed him under the group "cyclops" (the group "cyclopes" contains the three primordial cyclopes and its description states they are the primordial ones, rather than the "other cyclops" type such as Polyphemus and others mentioned by Nonnus and others). -Matt
Following much discussion of the way we handle abbreviations, we're now thinking that it would be desirable to compile some example images, one for each generic type of abbreviation, from our source pages, and link them into the abbreviation definitions. For the first stage in this, MDH should use XQuery to extract a list of all abbreviations marked up in the text, along with their page numbers, so we can look through and pick out the best examples in each case.
