IMaP is controlled by the version control system Subversion. All sites using IMaP must be updated through Subversion.

These web sites currently use IMaP:

IMaP demo site (http://lettuce.tapor.uvic.ca/~taprimap/imapdemo/demo/, local folder /home1t/taprimap)

For the IMaP demo web site: shell to server lettuce, then cd /home1t/tapriamp, then run ./svnupdate.sh [pw] where [pw] is a password for the user ID you logged on with (must have Subversion permissions). If you leave off the password you will be asked for it several times, so best to include it. The entire site will be updated (four steps).

viHistory (http://vihistory.uvic.ca/content/maps/imaps.php, http://vihistory.uvic.ca/content/maps/htdocs/admin/admin.php, local folder /home1t/taprhist)

For the viHistory web site: shell to server lettuce, then cd /home1t/taprhist, then run ./svnupdate.sh [pw] where [pw] is a password for the user ID you logged on with. The entire site will be updated – both the viHistory main site and the IMaP instance embedded in the main site (the IMaP instance is embedded at /home1t/taprhist/www/content/maps).

Map of London (http://mapoflondon.uvic.ca/experimental_map.php, local folder /home1t/london)

For the Map of London web site: shell to server lettuce, cd /home1t/london, run ./london_update.sh. The shell script (written by Mike) has the user name and password right in it, a dubious practice from a security standpoint, but it isn't David's project so he didn't mess with it. The IMaP instance is embedded at /home1t/london/www/imap.

With Greg:

• Installed new Cocoon+eXist on his machine.
• Uploaded Katakana2 (version ported for new eXist) into it.
• Ran basic accuracy tests -- all correct against old version.
• Ran speed tests:
  • Some queries were up to 10x faster under default setup.
  • Other queries were up to 4x slower.
• Configured range indexes to help with slower queries. This more than solved the problem; slower queries were now nearly 3x faster than on the original setup.

Concluded that this is ready for deployment on Lettuce, under Tomcat 6, using port 8080 (so it becomes the default Cocoon/eXist deployment on Lettuce).

The remaining issues with P5 conversion turned out to be due to the fact that the schema was missing the figures modules (which handles figure and table elements and sub-elements). All files now validate as P5.

Received a set of test files from Syd, ran the tests, and sent back the following report:

Syd will also test, and take results to some gurus he's meeting today. We need to know a) what we SHOULD be doing, b) under what circumstances that actually works, and c) where it doesn't work, what workarounds are available.

Installed all old versions of HotPot under a vm, and began looking at docs and code. Found some interesting stuff in the help files. All versions still work! Had some correspondence with Martin Dougiamas about the open-source model and revenue streams for Moodle.

1. Structure of tables has changed. This may take some figuring out.
2. <figure> element is different. This will need a little research.
3. <xref> element needs to be effectively converted to <ref>. Fixed that (although we may have to watch for oddities in the "to" attribute).
4. Attribute "lang" not allowed. Should be xml:lang. Already added code to fix this.
5. There are some empty n elements in the source. These are errors in the original, so I fixed them there (by deleting the empty attribute).
6. Some date tags have value="yyyy-mm-00"; this is illegal, so added some code to strip off the last component.

Took all the elements of the existing site and placed them as appropriate in normalized structure. A handful of elements are orphans, so I'll need to check with Jennifer and Andrew about them. The list of departments and list of faculty members and research interests should probably be combined and centralized somehow as they appear for all three audiences. I'll use that as my data for testing inclusions in Contribute.
I'll review this in a day or two, but expect that I won't be able to proceed on this until I've got the templates, got a copy of Contribute and have spent time seeing what happens in Contribute when I make various kinds of modifications to the templates (specifically making the files php rather than html).

1. Attribute "corresp" is in linking module, so added that module and all was OK. In the process, noted that Roma is currently slightly broken; it does not save the title and description you give to your customization in the ODD file.
2. Added an ident attribute based on the guess that only English and French appear as content of the language tag. That may or may not prove true with other files, but works for vol 1.1.
3. Restructured <change> element significantly. It seems to have been much simplified in P5.

Spent some time investigating the best way to make canned reports available; the current system allows any report to be bookmarked, so, for example, you can generate a report for "my outstanding tasks" then return to it any time to see a current view of that data. It would be helpful if the report page could also spit itself out as RSS so you could subscribe to a feed version of any report. This is medium-term. Should take three or four hours (depending on how many RSS feed formats we want to support).
