Explanation of Occupation Terms Added for Sorting Purposes

Posted by saraht on 13 Apr 2016 in Discussion

For sorting purposes I created three categories in the Occupations (canonical) section.

To Be Added: No suitable category currently available, a new category needs to be created or exisiting category modified (as per HISCO) to accomodate.

Illegible: There is an occupation listed on the attestation records but is not readable for various reasons i.e. handwriting too difficult to read, text is faded etc.

Unknown: No occupation available

There are also two terms included in the note section.

To Be Vetted means that the occupation has been assigned a normalized occupation, but this connection needs to be verified or requires extra evidence to support the decision.

Typo: Should be _____ means that there is an error is spelling or transcription on the CGWP profile that is not present on the original attestation papers. Misspellings on the original attestation papers have been left untouched, and the occupation has been linked to a normalized occupation.
