Cornet Stoure

Also known as the Kings house or Cornet stoure at Buckles bury, Edward III’s Cornet Stoure is described in the 1633 edition of Stow’s Survey of London as being one ancient and strong Tower of stone the which Tower King Edward the third, in the eighteenth of his reign, by the name of the Kings house, called Cornet stoure in London (Stow 275). In terms of the function of the site, Stow notes that Edward III appointed the location to be his exchange and gave the same Tower to his College around 1358 (Stow 275).
