About Views
There are three views of the Wendat dictionary: the basic view, the intermediate view, and the full view.
The basic view
The basic view is intended for beginner learners of the Wendat language. In entries, the basic view shows users the Wendat headword of the entry, the definition, the part of speech, and any note or example associated with the entry. In examples, the basic view shows users the Wendat example, the translation of that example, and any note associated with the example. The basic view does not provide access to the Sources page which contains information about the various sources used to create this dictionary and a link to search transcriptions of the Wendat archival documentation.
The intermediate view
The intermediate view is intended for more advanced learners of the Wendat language. It displays all information included in the basic view plus additional details. In entries, the intermediate view shows users more grammatical information associated with an entry, including, where relevant, conjugation class, verb class, verb consequentiality, noun incorporation status, and composition. For verb entries, it also shows users the verb stems section with details about each verb stem. In examples, the intermediate view displays the composition of the example and the source for the example if it was attested in the Wendat archival documentation. Like the basic view, the intermediate view does not provide access to the Sources page which contains information about the various sources used to create this dictionary and a link to search transcriptions of the Wendat archival documentation.
The full view
The full view is intended for linguists and researchers interested in the Wendat archival documentation. The full view contains all the information included in the basic and intermediate views along with additional details. In entries, the full view provides the reconstructed phonological and Pre-Wendat forms, cross-references to manuscripts, and additional lines in the interlinearization found in composition tables. In examples, the interlinearization in the composition tables is also expanded. When using the full view, you can access the Sources page found in the list of tabs (on a computer) or in the site menu (on a mobile device). The Sources page contains links to transcriptions of the Wendat archival documentation and a link to the page to search these transcriptions. The project bibliography also appears on the Sources page.
