Jewish; Dr. Rita Krause made a career in medicine and died in 2004; in a relationship
and later married to Prof. Dr. Walter Krause (who was imprisoned for 18 months because
of race defilement, was recruited for the Wehrmacht, and was a prisoner of war in
the United States); one son; father Julius Smrcka (born 1870), mother Olga (born 1882,
died 1938); brother Dr. Leo Smrcka (born 1909); her father and brother were imprisoned
during the November 1938 (Night of the Broken Glass) pogrom; her brother Leo fled
in 1939 March to Great Britain; the house of her parents was confiscated (Schwarzhorngasse
10)
