On Monday, met with AC and NM to discuss the new subject taxonomy; existing
values will need to be mapped to new values, and at the same time the new taxonomy
is created, the existing <catRef>s will need to be updated
to match, to avoid a build break. I’ll implement the taxonomy in a temporary
format first, then work with NM on the mapping, and do the whole operation
early one morning. Also worked through the last remaining fixes for misnamed
poems found by EW, closing a couple of tickets. Finally, fixed some <catRef>s
erroneously assigned before the new taxonomy has been created.
On Tuesday, worked on encoding the new subject taxonomy, which is extensive, and needs some edits and expansions as it’s realized. Got about two thirds of the way through by the end of the day.
On Wednesday, finished encoding the subject taxonomy, and then created a document
attempting to map existing values in <catRef>s to new values;
there are some which have no match, and others which need confirmation, so I’ve
passed that over to NM and AC. When I have answers on those issues, I can switch
in the new taxonomy, rebuild the schema, and transform all the old values in one
big operation. I have written the XSLT to do the conversion already, and it’s just
waiting to have the values plugged into it.
