Fixes for specific poems and rendering

AC working with three specific poems for a presentation found some issues with actual encoding, and also two questions relating to processing bugs, which I diagnosed and fixed; they were related to the handling of hyphens, spaces and linebreaks and I got around them by the judicious use of the w element to assert that a word is a word and should not be messed with by rendering code.
