At JS-R's request, made some stylesheet changes to alter the relative size of some input text boxes. It turned out there was no need to change the classes or the db fields themselves.

As requested by LB and GR, added a page to the site which shows the full list of periodicals in the grsJournals database, constructed using the rssReader.php code which is already handling the Events page. Had to make some small modifications to that code to handle differences in the underlying RSS structure. Linked the new page from the Resources section of the menu. Also had to make some changes to the underlying data, because the data-entry folks had used angle brackets in the data itself; replaced them with square brackets, to make the page valid.
EM wrote from fgsschol to say she couldn't authenticate, though she had been able to do so previously. The .htaccess file controlling access did not have that netlink in the whitelist, so I added it. In testing, I noticed that if the pdfs folder contains on PDF Files, the user sees an error statement because my code does not trap for that condition. I'll fix that. I also noticed that they included two folders each containing 10 pdf files (rather than 2 omnibus PDF files) and my code does not handle that either. Wrote to her explaining situation and describing possible ways forward.
Took Greg's code from the GRS database of images and modified it a bit to work within the page templates for the Siberian Expedition site. Most of the changes were to allow the interface to appear in any one of the three languages supported by the site (English, French, Russian). Don't have any images to work with, but do have code talking to the database and returning appropriate values based on text input into text field and filtered by the couple of filter controls I've implemented. The text search is currently "ANDing" based on space characters in the texfield search (e.g. search for bird's eye view finds records with instance of any one or more of those words), but I've also got code that will search the text in that box as a phrase. I can't go much further until I get corrected data from BI (my code reports that only 1200 of 2100 records are error-free).
Request to have two redirects created (web.uvic.ca/chinext and web.uvic.ca/asiancan) a couple of weeks ago had no apparent effect, so I sent follow-up email. Helpdesk says the redirects have been created, but won't take effect until they restart. Just tested and the redirects now appear to be working.
I couldn't get appropriate permissions to write in the siberian account when I logged in to lettuce.tapor.uvic.ca as sarneil, but could get permissions when I logged in as sarneil to nfs.tapor.uvic.ca. sarneil is a member of more than 16 groups (including Siberian), so when logging in through lettuce, only 16 memberships are tracked, so unpredicatably I'm not a member of the Siberian group for that session. Problem does not occur with log in through nfs. Sys-admins and Greg and I worked this out simultaneously and independently.
LW wrote to say a specific professor's course offering details were not appearing on the site. She had not included the course number in the summer section of that course number for that professor's course offerings. Added that in and explained to her what change I'd made.
