Met with Shawn and talked about pros and cons of intercepting the page-launch event vs trying to shoe-horn Personas gui elements into the existing page. The latter looks to be easier to do and we were leaning towards that approach. Alas, it amounts to inserting hand-written code as strings into the page so I'm not it will work in light of the various state variables I have to pay attention to. It looks like I may have to go with the former, though that will certainly be a bit harder to maintain in the long term. Either way, although I've managed to write and read values to/from the database, I'm not yet sure how to access those when I need them on my page.
