hist: met with prof about posting student projects
EK of the History department met with me because he wants to create the following site:
- an image (or small number of images) of artifacts from the UVic special collections
- each artifact to have three short student research papers on it
- starting with 40-50 medieval manuscripts/objects, then 80-100 Early Modern objects, a couple of hundred more recent objects
HCMC will work with EK to create a template for the student research papers and the structure and user interface for the entire site. EK wishes to be able to do as much of the site maintenance as possible, in particular the preparation, editing and uploading of the research papers.
For now appears to be a project we can implement as static html pages on a web.uvic.ca account. We may construct the directory structure so that we can derive the navigation by parsing through the structure, so that whenever a new document is added, it automatically appears in the navigation scheme.
EK to submit lists of elements we need to include on pages, and suggestions/examples of interface elements he'd like.
Goal is to have structure done and examples up by mid September.
