geru : accept and process online payments for UVic events
Helga enquired about accepting payment online for a couple of small UVic sponsored events.
The university provides a service called UVicPay (https://uvicpay.finance.uvic.ca/). The problem is that you still have the task of creating the web-page front end that communicates with their ecommerce server. It's not a huge deal, but does require someone that is comfortable writing web pages in a text editor and following their precise requirements. The transaction costs are low, though.
It might be better and faster (and cheaper if you have to pay for a developer to complete the option above) for you to get an account with regonline.ca. That service does charge $4 per registrant, but it provides you with an interface that allows you to generate and modify your registration forms easily.
She concluded that her needs were so minimal, that it would be easier to handle the payments in person, and do only the registration online.
