flee from the Battle of Brávellir in Louis Moe's retelling of the
story. Literal translation of the Danish text for page 84:
High up towards the gods’ heaven she raises her sword, praising
the eternal ones and thanking the guardians of revenge. “So
handsome he was, my childhood friend, and so innocent, so full
of pure love in his young breast, so warm was his precious
blood, that the dastard spilled on our childhood playground. He
was denied the honour of death in battle, for he fell at the
hand of a craven, never to be found among proud Einherjar at the
