Mímir (0)
Mímir (non.)
In Heimskringla, Mímir is one of the Æsir, who, along with Hænir, was exchanged as a hostage in the truce between the Æsir and Vanir. When the Vanir discover how wise he is, they suspect that they have been tricked. Consequently, they decapitate him and send his head to Óðinn who preserves it so that he can consult it when he needs advice. Mímir is one of the first three giants mentioned in the þulur in the Prose Edda and also the owner of the well that Óðinn casts his eye into and drinks from to gain wisdom.
