I have the honor to forward to you herewith, an Extract of a letter
               received a few days ago from 
Mr Chief Factor Douglas relative to the
               proceedings adopted to punish the murderers of the three Seamen who had
               deserted from one of the Company's Ships.
As 
M Douglas has not in any of his letters alluded to the
               rumour mentioned by 
Governor Blanshard in his Despatch of the

                  August 1850, which attributed the murder of these unfortunate men to the
               instigation of the Company's Servants, I feel persuaded that the rumour
               was without foundation,
