The Japanese Canadian Monument site is a static website with no server-side dependencies. If you are using a copy that you have downloaded for personal use, there are no privacy implications. If you are accessing the static site hosted at the University of Victoria (UVic), you are implicitly agreeing that you have read, understood, and accepted the Terms & conditions for use of official University of Victoria websites.

The Humanities Computing and Media Centre (HCMC) at the University of Victoria collects web statistics from the Apache logs of its servers. When you visit japanesecanadianmonument.uvic.ca or a page that redirects to that URL, we capture various data points, including your IP address, general geographic location, the pages you visit, the length of your visit, and the browser and operating system you are using. This information is collected solely for the purpose of gathering data on site usage. Neither HCMC nor UVic will share that information with, or sell it to, anyone for any reason, nor will it be used internally at UVic or HCMC for any purpose other than creating an aggregate dataset to report on the public impact of the work.

UVic may generate cookies for SSO and general UVic session tracking, in keep with its Protection of Privacy Policy.
