In our Wednesday meeting, we agreed that I would create a branch to pull out the dependency on XProc. We also made more progress in figuring out when external dependencies should be resolved; it turns out they must be resolved at the point in the chain where they appear, not later, because pointers to them may be relative and may be unresolvable when outputs end up in different locations.
