On Tuesday, started in on some of the remaining data problems that have been
emerging as I build the site. Made the required changes to specific records from
recent decisions by HT, and raised a couple more questions. Then I tweaked the build
process so that redundant residence elements (those which are collective
, and
which are essentially duplicates of collection events that follow them) are ignored in
the page build. Finally, I started looking at the very difficult issue of sequencing
residence and event records, and determined that there are nearly 600 cases of events
that will need human intervention to supply info in the form of @notBefore
or @notAfter attributes to ensure they are rendered in the correct
sequence. No algorithm is going to get this right reliably. I’ll just have to do this
work. I’ve started on this, and will pick away at it over time.
