On Monday, worked on the last remaining issue from the PDF to-do list and got it working, then added a Schematron rule to prevent nested glosses; SK then fixed all remaining cases. As of the end of Monday, I was up to date with PDF work.
On Wednesday, SK came back with another spacing issue, and it proved to be a big problem. The issue is with the loose approach to spacing in the original markup, which causes chaos when trying to generate the translated hyph; it becomes impossible to know which space nodes are required and which are not. I ended up undoing some of my spacing fixes for previously-noted unwanted space, resulting undoubtedly in some regression, in order to be able to preserve space in specific locations where it’s needed. I think in the end, this will need a complete rewrite of the hyph-translation code. Had a bit more discussion of this on Thursday.
