On Tuesday, to get my head back into the PDF space, attacked a couple of the issues I’ve seen myself in the PDF rendering, and looked at the first few issues in SK’s in-preparation TODO list.
On Wednesday, continued working through the list of TODOs for the print document, and consulted with SK about some of the thornier issues, including the proposal for homograph numbering, which is still very problematic.
On Thursday, continued working through the list of minor issues in the print document, fixing what are mostly spacing problems.
On Friday, got through one pass of the spacing issues, then revisited to find as usual that some fixes had undone other fixes. Refactored quite a bit of the pre-processing code, which is designed to filter out numerous anomalies from the source encoding, and by the end of the day I had a build of the PDF in which I could no longer find any instances of the listed problems. However, as discussed with SK, another round of proofing will be needed to be sure we haven’t introduced any new anomalies.
