On Monday, started work on the reorganization of the place hierarchy, based on document from JE and ST. Hit a couple of puzzling areas, and wrote to them to get clarification.
On Tuesday, got the clarification I needed, and implemented and tested the changes. The results seem good so far, but I still need to find a way to represent the place hierarchy on the two websites, so that the people working on the listings can easily see it and drill down to the people. I got a single-page hierarchical view of the places working, but it should logically end with the links to namelisting pages which are currently generated under the old system, so I need to merge the two algorithms, which will be tricky.
On Wednesday, finished this re-working, so the people-by-location page is now showing the full place hierarchy. Now on to the spreadsheet, and confirmation that the public site is working as expected.
On Thursday, got some suggestions from SI on how to improve the hierarchy page, and implemented those. Then turned to the spreadsheet deliverable, and implemented processing of the place hierarchy into a spreadsheet containing all the people in the correct order.
On Friday, got one new fix from SI, and implemented it.
