Over the weekend and on Monday continued working through the merge/deletes. Many of them throw up issues that need fixing in both the Monument and LOI datasets. Found a new potential issue with PDF filenames that may also need fixing; there are about 25 of these.
In a final sprint on Tuesday, got all remaining merge/deletes finished except for one outstanding question.
On Wednesday, got a new collection from SI of changes apparently missed; some appear never to have been entered on the spreadsheets I received, others were cases where a question was raised and either not fully answered or the answer was missed, but most seem to be cases where SA elected not to make a change because of the prevailing evidence in the LOI record; I do need to make these changes in Monument, so I made a start.
On Thursday, continued working through the remaining forename issues.
On Friday, did more changes from the missed forenames spreadsheet, realizing that one source of these was cases where SA had added an English forename but had placed it after the Japanese forename. I came to a couple of cases where the changes asked for were clearly in error, because they were assigning female names to males, so I’ve paused work until SI can clarify those cases.
