Over the weekend, learned from AB that I’d only imported a tiny subset of the Patent Roll MSS into the bibliography, so went back to the NA site and generated a CSV output of the full collection (130 of them). Then converted that to TSV and wrote a simple XSLT to turn that into msDesc entries. That completes what we need for the data entry workflow testing we did during the morning.
After about two hours of test data entry, I came away with a batch of fixes to be done and some ideas on how to organize the workflow. Then I started more normalization and rationalization, first of all working on the places/placenames, replacing numeric ids with meaningful ones and replacing all the composite place values we inherited from the db with their expanded separate listings. Had to make the id fixes in the map JSON too, which was tricky.
On Tuesday, worked with JP to do more encoding, which he’s easily taken to; then after his session was over, did more work on adding Schematron constraints and prompts for specific values using Schematron where RNG can’t do it. Also fixed a rendering bug where the staticSearch logo was showing too large.
On Wednesday, I completed the first draft of the workflow documentation, and added more Schematron fixes and prompts.
