ACH/ALLC Conference 2005
June 15 - June 18, 2005

Temporary Visas for Canada

Note for delegates requiring a temporary visitor visa to enter Canada:

  1. To find out if citizens of your country require a visa to enter Canada, please check here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/visas.html
  2. You may be told at your local Canadian embassy or consulate that you require a Letter of Invitation from the conference organizers, confirming your reason for applying for a visa.
  3. If you do require such a letter, please contact achallc5@uvic.ca immediately, since mail-delivery and the processing at your end may be time-consuming.
  4. In order for us to issue the letter, we need your precise, legal name and mailing address, and your purpose in coming to the conference (presenting a paper, or simply attending). If you are attending the pre-conference Summer Institute in Humanities Computing as well, we need to know that too, because we must specify exact dates when you will be attending our events. If you are NOT presenting a paper, we request that you Register for the conference, so that we can refer to your registration number, as "proof" of your intention. Registration can be cancelled later, without charge, if for some reason beyond your control you can not attend.
  5. The Letter of Invitation will be written on conference letterhead, containing our contact addresses, as required by the Canadian authorities. It will state the dates of the conference (and Institute, if relevant), your full legal name, and your intended role in the Conference. Issuing the letter does not constitute or imply any sponsorship role on our part. You are responsible for all costs associated with attending the conference.
