Accommodation

Local Accommodation On Campus

There are two options for on campus lodging:

  1. Individual student dormitories: These rooms are simple, but comfortable, and are very conveniently located adjacent to the conference centre. Two new dormitory buildings were built in 2004, and these have been requested for conference participants.
  2. Dormitory cluster housing: Also only a short walk to the conference centre, these are shared quarters offering 4 single bedrooms, as well as fully furnished living quarters: living room, kitchen, and two bathrooms. Groups of any size up to 4 can take advantage of this option, so long as the group arranges matters (rooming arrangements, cost sharing, dates, etc,.) among themselves before booking. Each individual within the group can pay separately for his/her portion of the block, receiving a separate receipt for the payment. UVic Housing requires that one group member make the reservation, list the other group members at that time, then arrange for them either to call in to make payment or pay the balance at check-in. Ultimately, the person making the booking for the group will be responsible for full payment of the balance. Note: this option is limited and tends to fill up quickly, so gather your colleagues together, make arrangements and book early.

Internet connectivity is available in both the individual dorm rooms and the cluster housing.

To secure a room, we advise booking before APRIL 15TH, 2005. After this date, rooms will likely be available, but UVic Housing will no longer guarantee it. A deposit for first night's accommodation is required to guarantee all reservations. The remaining balance is due at check-in.

Local Accommodation Off Campus

A block of rooms has been reserved for conference delegates at the Chateau Victoria Hotel. The hotel is located in downtown Victoria and will require taxi, car or bus transport to the university. Buses run frequently and directly. Taxi fares run $12 - $15 CA each way. Visit the web site in the contact information below to view rates, room descriptions, and to make reservations.
