Bowring, Edgar Alfred

Edgard Alfred Bowring was a British civil servant and politician. He served as Librarian
and Registrar for
the British Board of Trade from 1848 to 1863 and represented Exeter in the
British Parliament from 1868 to 1874. In
Bowring, Edgar Alfred to Fortescue, 1st Baron Carlingford Chichester 14 July 1862,
CO 305:19, no. 6879, 534, Bowring, on behalf of the Lords of the
Committee of the Privy Council for Trade, informs the Under-Secretary of State that
a disbursement
has been made by his department. He requests that the amount be paid to Her Majesty's Paymaster General
to the credit of the Vote for Lighthouses abroad. Bowring died on 8 August
1911.2
