Douglas acknowledges receipt of a despatch on the subject of his correspondence with the House of Assembly, noting approval of his communications on the important step of providing for, and improving the condition of the Indian races. Douglas adds that he shall not fail in continuing to regard this interesting and desirable object with the most careful solicitude.
