Smith forwards to Labouchere a letter from the Deputy Governor of this Company to the Earl of Clarendon.
The minutes express the Colonial Office’s hesitation to put by the letter and they opt to await a reply containing more information.
The file contains two letters, one from Griffin to Douglas, the other from Douglas to Stevens, both regarding an attack on the British settlement by a party of Americans on San Juan Island.

Bay House 24th July 1855.
