Instant, enclosing a copy of a Letter from the Deputy Governor of the
Hudson's Bay Company, stating the circumstances connected with the
occupation of the Island of San Juan in the Canal de Arro by the
servants of the Hudson's Bay CompanyCompany, and also a copy of the reply which
Mr Secretary Labouchere proposes to return to it, and I am to
request, that you will state to Mr Labouchere, that Lord Clarendon
entirely concurs in the Draft of the Letter which he proposes to address
to Mr Shepherd upon this subject.
I return herewith in compliance with your request, the enclosures
inin Mr Shepherd's Letter.
