I transmit to you with reference to my Despatch of the
8th May,
No. 31, a copy of a letter from the
Crown Agents dated the
10th Ultimo,
reporting that remittances had been received from
British Columbia,
sufficient to meet the interest on their Loans falling due on the
1st
and
13thof of this month, but that a sum of £5175 was still due for
contribution to the Sinking Fund, which will be increased by a further
sum of £4050 on the
15th of this month.
The Despatch which I addressed to the late Governor on the
13th
April, No. 23, has so clearly pointed out the necessity of punctual
remittances being made for the payment of Interest and Sinking Fund and
the serious consequences to the Colony if they are not made, that I need
only call
your your attention to it.
