Sir,
I have received and laid before The Queen the three Ordinances named in the margin,
No. 7 "An Ordinance to Consolidate the Laws relating to Licenses."
Enclosed in Despatch No. 29 of 3rd April 1866.
No. 8 "An Ordinance authorizing the sale of the Real Estate of Intestates."
Enclosed in Despatch No. 27 of 7th April.
No. 9 "An Ordinance for the Regulation of Ferries and Bridges."
Enclosed in Despatch No. 34 of 3rd April.
passed by the Legislature of British Columbia in the month of March last, and I am Commanded to inform you that Her MajestyhasManuscript image has been graciously pleased to sanction and confirm them.
You will cause Her Majesty's decision with respect to these Ordinances to be proclaimed to the inhabitants of British Columbia in the usual and most authentic manner.
I understand that under the first Clause of No. 8 "authorizing the sale of the Real Estate of Intestates," the Supreme Court might authorize the personal representative of a deceased person to sell real property not belonging to that personal representative himself but to the Heirs. It appears to me thatspecialManuscript image special regulations will be necessary (and no doubt will be provided by the Court) to secure that the money so received finds its way to the rightful owner. It appears to me that it might be advisable to provide that the conveyance should not be complete without a Certificate that the Accountant General had received the purchase money.
