Seymour Creek (Seymour River), or Ch’ich eliwxih, was a Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish) village at the mouth of the Seymour River on the north shore of Burrard Inlet. Non-Indigenous settlement began in 1863 with the construction of the Pioneer Mills sawmill. A First Nations reserve was established in 1877.

From the early 1900s to the 1920s, Japanese Canadian logging contractor Tosaku Kato operated a logging camp near Seymour Creek. A second camp, likely run by Eikichi Kagetsu, evolved into a permanent community from about 1920 to 1942, remaining long after local logging work had ended and other camps had closed by the mid-1920s.
