Murrayville, now part of Langley, was established by non-Indigenous settlers in 1874. Originally known as Murray’s Corners, it became a local centre in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with a hotel, sawmill, store, municipal hall, and high school. In 1925,a post office was established, and the community was officially renamed Murrayville. The community hall opened in 1928. The Takaoka family owned approximately ten acres of farmland near Murrayville.
