People uprooted from Websters Corners (4) View on map

Websters Corners (Webster’s Corners), in the Maple Ridge district, was established as a non-Indigenous farming settlement in the 1880s. James Murray Webster built a 160 acre homestead south of the Dewdney Trunk Road, and in 1891, he opened a post office in his house. A few other homesteads opperated, but logging, milling, and shingle bolt production were popular industries. In 1905, Finnish settlers moved to the community from Sointula, and Matti Kurikka obtained a shingle bolt contract at Websters Corners.

Soju Miyamoto co-owned farmland with the Ohta family in Websters Corners where they grew strawberries, raspberries, currants, asparagus, and fruit trees.
