suspension
(suspension) 語頭文字(列)を使い、省略形とする。
contraction
(contraction) 語中の文字(列)を省略して作る。
brevigraph
特別な記号や印が使われている。
superscription
(superscription) 当該省略形上に、文字列が乗っている。
acronym
(acronym) 省略形は、語頭字でできている。
title
(title) 宛名に使用する肩書きの省略形(Dr、 Ms、 Mr、…)。
organization
(organization) 組織名の省略形。
geographic
(geographic) 地名の省略形。
解説

属性typeは、省略形の分類を明示したい時に使用される。 一般には、全ての場合で同じタイプの省略形が使われるが、そうでな い場合にこの属性は有効であろう。 用例に示されているように、省略形はそれを造語する手法により分類 することができる。この分類は符号化する人が決めるものである。従っ て、目的に合わせて慎重に選択すべきである。中世英語の省略形につ いては、以下を参照のことPetty (1977)。
