  1. Hercules brings Cerberus up from Hades
  2. Aegeus visits Pittheus on his way to Athens
  3. Pittheus, understanding the oracle which puzzled Aegeus, makes Aegeus drunk and gets him to have sex with his daughter
  4. Poseidon and Aegeus have sex with Aethra on the same night
  5. Aegeus tells Aethra that if she gives birth to a male child, she should rear it
  6. Aegeus leaves a sword and sandals under a heavy rock
  7. Aegeus tells Aethra to send away the boy when he grows old enough to roll away the rock and take the sword and sandals
  8. Aethra gives birth to Theseus
  9. Theseus pushes away the rock and takes up the sandals and the sword left by his father
  10. Diomedes and the Argives send ships to Troy
