Gloria Olcese

Gloria Olcese is Full Professor of Methodology in Archaeological Research at Università degli Studi di Milano. Her interests focus on the archaeology of production and trade, and multidisciplinary approaches integrating archaeology and archaeometry.

She obtained a Phd in Classical Archaeology/Archaeometry at Freie Universität Berlin and a post-doc at the University of Siena. She has been awarded scholarships in Germany (DAAD - Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst, DFG - Deutsche Forschungs Gemeinschaft) and Italy and she obtained the highest German academic qualification, “Habilitation”.

She has taught at Sapienza - University in Rome, as a visiting professor at the Freie Universität Berlin and at Zurich University. She coordinated several large-scale research projects: Ischia, with Prof. W.D. Heilmeyer, financed by the Thyssen-Stiftung and the Italian Ministry’s FIRB project Immensa Aequora (https://www.immensaaequora.org).

She is the author of several monographs and papers and has organised many international conferences.
