Description
A free adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy of young lovers set in Ouro Preto, a mining town in Brazil that has the fragile beauty of the Italian Riviera. The narrator of the film explains, "Ouro Preto like Verona is a perfect setting for a tragedy of love." Although unknown in the United States, the production received enthusiastic reviews when it was shown in London in the National Film Theatre
