City of Victoria & Vancouver Island 1901 Census
Welcome to the searchable online census of the City of Victoria and other communities on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, Canada for 1901.
Nominal census records for the City of Victoria (Census District 4) were transcribed by the Canadian Families Project [CFP]. Members of the British Columbia Genealogical Society [BCGS] transcribed records for Census District 3, which covered Vancouver Island communities beyond Victoria. The CFP transcribed data from every field on the 1901 nominal census schedule; the BCGS transcribed personal and family data but did not transcribe employment or income data. Collectively, the two datasets provide a remarkably detailed demographic picture of Vancouver Island and adjacent Gulf Islands in 1901.
