File menu
The File menu has commands for saving and loading batch files. A batch file is just a list of text files which you're going to process using the transformation sequence loaded in the main Transformer window. Batch files are saved with a .bch.xml extension.
X
Actions menu
The Actions menu has commands for adding and deleting files in the file list, and for running the whole batch operation. It also has functions for adding or removing UTF-8 Byte Order Marks (BOMs) from the files in the list. This can be handy, because although some Unicode processing tools require BOMs in UTF-8 files, others can be confused by them; if your files are UTF-8, you may need these functions.
X
File toolbar buttons
Use these buttons to load and save batch files, and to close the Batch window.
X
Add/remove files buttons
Use these controls to add or delete files in the batch list.
X
File list box
Here you'll see the list of files in the batch. Normally, you see only the filenames, but if you put your mouse over an entry in the list, you'll see the full path to the file in a tooltip.
X
Saving files
Choose the file format you want to save the tranformed files in.
X
Save location
Choose the folder where you'd like to save the transformed files.
X
Output filename
Specify the rules for creating output filenames, based on the original filenames (if you want to change the filename at all).
X
Backups
If you're overwriting the original files with the transformed versions, you might want to save backups first. Specify the settings for this on the Backups tab.
X
Go! button
Press the Go! button to start the batch process. You'll see a popup progress box which shows you how the process is going. It also has a Cancel button in case you want to abort the process.
X
Status bar
The status bar shows the filename of the current batch list (if you've saved it). Batch files are saved with a .bch.xml extension.
