Pissing Alley was a small alley running south from Paternoster Row into Paul’s Cross Churchyard. After the Great Fire of 1666, it was called Canon Alley. The gazetteer for the Large Map of 1677 labels it Petty Cannons (Ogilby. However the Hearth Tax records for 1666 suggest that the name Pissing Alley persisted (Merry; BHO).
