In reply to your letter of 24th Instant, I am commanded by the
Lords Commissoners of Her Majesty's Treasury to acquaint you that
the Paymaster General has been authorized to pay the Bill for £1500
drawn by direction of the Acting Governor of Vancouver Island, for
the service of the Colony.
Draft reply, Carnarvon to Officer Administering the
Government, No. 3, 3 January 1867 affirming that the paymaster general authorized the payment of £1500 for expenses
regarding the operation of the colony of Vancouver Island.
