I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch No 11
dated 27th February 1865 on the subject of a pier which Colonel
Foster has thrown out from his property in Esquimalt Harbour in this
Colony, and in reply I have the honor to enclose the letters named in
the margin

you will learn the manner in which I have settled the
matter in concert with Rear Admiral Denman as directed by your
Despatch.

of a despatch on the subject of the pier built by George Foster for
his comment.
Henry Wakeford, Acting Colonial Secretary, to Foster, 13 June
1865, advising that the issue would be allowed to rest providing that
the pier be available at all times for use by her Majesty's ships and
crew and that it be always kept in a proper state of repair.
