Newcastle confirms that the Crown Agents have paid the stamp duty on warrants of Gordon and Cary as Treasurer and Attorney General, respectively, for Vancouver Island.

Sir,
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Despatch Separate of the 3d of November last reporting that the Crown Agents had been instructed to repay the sum of Three Pounds being the amount of the Stamp Duty due on the Warrants of Messrs Gordon and Carey as Treasurer and Attorney General for Vancouver Island; and to acquaint you that the agents have since repaid the sum in question.
