Referring to my Despatch No 69 dated 5th September 1864, I have the honor to inform you that gold has been discovered over a still more extended area in the District of Sooke River and that mining and digging are still pursued with profit and with good prospects.
The total amount received for mining licences to 8th October 1864 is three thousand six hundred dollars ($3600),leavingManuscript image leaving a handsome balance to the credit of Crown Revenue after paying all expenses.
