Sir,
I have the honor to transmit to you a copy of a letter from the Board of Treasury relative to a claim made upon that Board on behalf of Mr. F. C. Hansen, Master of the Ship "Granger" for the subsistence during the passage from Vancouver Island to Queenstown of Thomas Burke a distressed BritishManuscript image Subject.
I have to request that you will call the attention of the Justice of the Peace who signed the order for Burke's passage, to the error into which he has fallen, and that you will cause it to be made generally known that persons in the Colonies are not entitles to passages to this country at the expense of the British Government.
