I have the honour to acknowledge receipt of Your Despatch N 87 of
the
20 February last, acquainting me that the Secretary of State
for War has, on Your Grace's recommendation,
authorized authorized the issue of
a supply of Rifles for the use of the Volunteers of
Vancouver Island,
of a description superior to the Brunswick Rifles recently sent out;
and that 500 stand of Rifles pattern 53, with a proper supply of
ammunition have accordingly been presented to the Colony.
2. I beg to assure Your Grace that your kind attention in thus
providing
for for the wants of the Colony in this respect, is highly
appreciated.
3. I will duly advise Your Grace so soon as the Arms may arrive.
