Despatch from London.
Newcastle informs Douglas that since Stamp was on colonial business while travelling aboard HMS Grappler, the colony must pay the costs related to his travel.

With reference to your despatch No. 60 of the 11th of September last I have the honor to acquaint you that as the service on which Captain Stamp proceeded from Esquimalt to Barclay Sound in October 1860 was a Colonial one, I have instructed the Colonial Agents General to repay to the AdmiraltytheManuscript image the cost of his entertainment on board M. M's Gunboat "Grappler."
The amount of the claim is £5-5-0 and I have to request that you will remit this sum to the Agents General Messrs. Barnard and Julyan, 6. Adelphi Terrace, London.
